Business woman; Blogger

Hello again, everyone! Hope you all have had a fantastic start to 2020 so far! I’m just hopping online between shifts at work because a) it has been absolutely BEAUTIFUL in Florida recently, and I kinda want to brag about it, and b) I am determined to uphold my resolution/promise to blog at least bi-weekly. So… she’s a business woman AND a blogger! 😉

Getting back into the routine for work after Christmas break has been pretty interesting and busy, to say the least! My sleep schedule hasn’t quite evened out yet, and I’m in the process of training a new employee, so that always adds a little stress to the mix. However, I am FOREVER GRATEFUL for this new staff member, because we have needed someone since I started working back in mid-September.

I realize that some of you may have noticed by my Facebook posts – I used the Wal-Mart Grocery App to order groceries over a week ago, and HOLY GUACAMOLE is it a time-saver! I still had to go to Publix for my chicken and fish the day I picked up my groceries (I prefer to get my meats at Publix), but it was SO NICE to not have to go into Wal-Mart to search endlessly for the long list of things I needed. I also wound up food-prepping with a lot of the things from my grocery list, so, this leads me to strike #1 against my sleep schedule. The night I came home with my grocery order, I stayed up until 11:30pm making food, dividing it up, and putting it away. *Insert major eyeroll here* …BUT… You live and learn, Kristin! Heehee!

Strike #2 against my sleep schedule… I spend mostly all of my weekends relaxing and sleeping, so my brain and body are not tired on Sunday nights, so I find myself unable to sleep before having to work at 6:15am on Monday mornings. I am crossing my fingers that the weather will be great this weekend so I can go to the beach or the pool (I’ve been hoping for a beach/pool day for a few weeks now), or maybe even go work out, so that my body is not WIDE AWAKE at bedtime on Sunday night!

…As a little Monday morning pickup heading into this week, my friend Mallory (from the Y) and I went to breakfast at this awesome diner called Grumpy’s to eat breakfast and catch up. The original purpose of us going to breakfast was to hold each other accountable for something that was due for work, but we didn’t actually DO the work at breakfast… we DID go to the office afterwards, though, and busted out a lot of things that were on our to-do lists!

And this brings me to strike #3 against my sleep schedule. As my staff and I were finishing up on Monday evening, one of my co-workers was talking about going out to watch the College National Championship game and eating some wings. I had not had wings in quite some time, so I told her that I would definitely join her, if she wanted to go. We wound up going to a local spot called Hurricane, and, lemme just tell you… those wings were FIRE (feel free to cringe; I know I just did)! …I realize that I’ve said this before, but it’s always nice to just GET OUT of the work environment to chat and catch up on how things are going. Also – you know how they tell you in college that you can choose two out of three on the triangle (social life, sleep, good grades)? Yeah, I’m finding that this translates into adult life too, and on Monday night, I chose to have a social life. Unfortunately, my friend and I stayed at Hurricane until 10:40pm, and I had to work on Tuesday morning at 6:15am! So, as indicated by the examples above, the whole sleep cycle thing isn’t quite there yet! However, I DID have an adulting “win,” last night and this morning… I went to sleep at about 9:00pm last night (with NO alarms set, which is a BIG RISK for me), and my body woke itself up at about 5:20am this morning, so, if you’re calculating… that’s just over EIGHT HOURS OF SLEEP! I woke up feeling so refreshed and ready for today, which is partially why I’m blogging now!

As a random side note, did you guys know that my 10-year high school class reunion is this year?! HOLY. SMOKES, I feel old! I’m definitely excited to go, but I feel like I have nothing to show for 10 years… We’re just going to hold on to the hope that this will change within the coming months, as our reunion is not until October.

Definitely a shorter post for today, but again, I’m still trying to get back into the groove of work, and nothing extremely noteworthy has happened within the past few weeks, other than the things I’ve spoken about above.

I do have a small token of thankfulness to end this post today… I’ve thought about it a lot, and I am BEYOND GRATEFUL to have come into the year 2020 with a job that I absolutely love, and to work with people who I’ve come to love, and they love and appreciate me in return… that’s just THE BEST feeling in the world, and it’s a feeling that I have not had in such a long time!

So, in closing today, I hope that wherever YOU are, you are having an amazing day and week, and I hope to be back on soon! Thank you for reading with me today!

Ciao, for now!
